Knights Lose By a Run at Philadelphia, 4-3
|
The Los Angeles Knights got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Newton. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Philadelphia. The Keystones won the game, 4-3. Newton threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Sam Jacobs picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 1-1. The loss drops the Knights to 1-4.
Had Randy Mills not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Mills hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Keystones.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Mills said.
