Denver Cutthroats starter Manny Sanchez was in fine form against the Los Angeles Knights at Los Angeles Grounds, leading his team to a win, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Sanchez, now 2-1. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 6. Denver, at 16-11, holds down first place in the West Division.
Denver used the timely hitting of Rich Hinkle to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cutthroats on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Manny was throwing strikes, locating well," said Denver manager Joe Peters.
